Winter time fun on Belle Isle!
This postcard depicts ice skating on Belle Isle most likely in the early 1900s. This little snippet appeared in the Detroit Free Press on December 31, 1917:
9,000 ENJOY SKATING ON ICE AT BELLE ISLE
About 9,000 skaters enjoyed the smooth, glassy surface of the ice at Belle Isle Sunday, when the skating was especially good. This is the largest attendance since the good, old winter sport commenced, about three weeks ago, after the first cold spell.
This unused and undated postcard was published by A.C. Dietsche, Detroit, Michigan and Frankfort, Germany.
